POSTBARIATRIC SURGERY

Bariatric surgery or surgery for obesity is becoming more and more frequent because of the enormous benefits it offers to patients. However, in some people of advanced age or with excessive weight prior to surgery require post-bariatric plastic surgery.

In some cases, after a significant weight loss, there are morphological sequels (skin sagging, flaps, or flaccidity) that are sometimes accompanied by psychological sequels. These situations require a global vision of the body that combines anatomical correction with body harmony, and plastic surgery is integrated in the medical approach for the surgical treatment of obesity.

Post-bariatric surgery includes body contouring surgery, which is a very broad discipline because it encompasses surgery throughout the entire body (trunk, breasts, abdomen, hips, arms, back, buttocks, thighs, etc.).

Among the surgical procedures that can be performed we have: the belt abdominoplasty that eliminates a circumferential band in the lower trunk area; the medial thigh lift that emphasizes more on the contour of thighs and buttocks; thigh lift; aesthetic gluteal area with or without fat infiltration; brachioplasty (surgery on the arms); lifting of the upper trunk area; and breast remodeling. Sometimes, depending on the patient’s condition, we can perform more than one of the aforementioned procedures at the same time.

All patients are photographed and evaluated in consensus by the medical and surgical team of Obesity El Salvador, who will advise the most appropriate procedure for each patient while extensively explaining what the expected results and the possible complications are.
